This album signifies a major milestone in my life in all sorts of ways. Growing up classically trained, discovering folk dance music after college was such a breath of fresh air. While I am grateful for the technical skills I have learned, experiencing and learning folk music has developed a stronger sense of connection and love for music. As I was listening to all varieties of folk dance music, I began to write tunes based on my own personal experiences. Before I knew it, I had a considerable amount of tunes that documented stories, growth, relationships, and emotions. These tunes and their arrangements serve as an artistic reflection of many other folk artists whom I admire and respect. The album title tune, Cardinal, is an incredibly special tune to me as it represents a pivotal moment when I truly felt transformed by folk music and dance. -Jacob Chen
